Games with
heart & magic

PhoenixGold builds colorful, family-friendly games with strong identities. MegaBlast Mayhem is on Steam, Eucalyptus Edge is growing in Unreal Engine 5.8, and Faefera is becoming a cozy creature-collecting fantasy adventure in Godot.

The studio

One person, shipping real games

PhoenixGold Game Studios is Trevor Hicks, working out of Salt Lake City. Design, code, art direction, audio and release engineering are all done here — which means nothing ships until it is genuinely finished, because there is no one to hand a half-built feature to.

The studio moves between genres without losing the same standard: readable art, responsive controls, distinct characters, and worlds that feel authored rather than assembled from placeholders. Each project is allowed to have its own identity.

How the studio works

Three things every game has to earn

It reads in one frame

A player should know who they are, where they are, and what is about to hit them, without being told.

It feels right on the first input

Movement and impact are tuned before anything is built on top. Feel is not a polish task you get to later.

It has a world worth remembering

Every project needs a clear visual language, memorable places, and characters that make the world feel like somewhere worth returning to.

The slate

Three games. Three ways to play.

From couch-bomber chaos to 3D arena combat to a cozy creature-filled sandbox, each title stands on its own while sharing the studio’s focus on clarity, character, and polish.
